Ingredients
  • Basmati Rice-21/2 cups
  • Onion -1 large thinly sliced
  • Tomato-1 big
  • Green chillies-3
  • Ginger garlic paste-2tbsp
  • Mint leaves-1/2 cup
  • Coriander leaves-1/2 cup
  • Coriander powder-1tbsp
  • Garam masala-1tsp
  • Red chilli Powder-3tsp
  • Oil-4tbsp
  • Ghee-2tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon -1/2
  • To Marinate Chicken
  • Chicken -1/2kg
  • Yogurt-1/2 cup
  • Salt -3 tsp
  • Turmeric powder-1tsp
  • Red chilli powder-1tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste-1tbsp
  • Freshly Grind:
  • Cinnamon-1 inch
  • cloves-3
  • star anise-1
  • cardamom-2
  • fennel-1tsp
  • To temper
  • Bayleaves-2
  • Cinnamon-1 inch
  • star anise-1
  • cloves-3
  • cardamom-2
  • fennel-1tsp
  • cumin-1tsp

Chicken Briyani in pressure cooker is a very simple method and we can do it in 30 minutes.It is so flavorful and tastes awesome and even a beginner can do this pressure cooker briyani.Serve this with onion and tomato raita.

Directions

  1. wash and soak the rice before you start the preparation(minimum 30 minutes).
  2. Marinate the chicken with yoghurt,turmeric powder,chilli powder ,ginger garlic paste and salt.The Longer you marinate,the masalas get infused well in the chicken and also the chicken will be soft.
  3. Take a pressure cooker,heat oil and ghee,once it become hot add bayleaves ,cinnamon,cloves,star anise,fennel seeds,cumin seeds
  4. Add onions and saute till it become golden brown
  5. Add green chillies,Ginger garlic paste and fry it until its raw smell goes
  6. Add Tomato and cook till get mashed completely
  7. Add Mint and coriander leaves and saute for few minutes.
  8. Add the spices chilli powder,coriander powder,garam masala and also freshly ground masalas.saute it well till the raw smell goes.
  9. Add Marinated Chicken and saute it in the masalas.cover and cook the chicken without adding water..the chicken itself ooze out lot of water.
  10. Add water and allow it to boil
  11. Add the soaked basmathi rice
  12. Close the pressure cooker and cook for 1 whistle.Reduce the flame to very low and allow to cook for 10 minutes and switch of the heat
  13. Now our delicious Chicken Briyani is ready.

 

Notes

 

  • Adding coconut milk enhances the briyani flavor.
