Ingredients
  • Rice - 1 cup
  • water - 3 cups
  • Butter - 1 tbsp(Optional)
  • curd - 1 cup
  • Milk - 1 cup
  • chopped green chillies - 1 tsp
  • chopped coriander leaves
  • chopped grapes
  • pomegranate seeds
  • salt
  • To Temper
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • urad dal - 1/2 tsp
  • Channa dal - 1/2 tsp
  • Dry red chillies - 5
  • chopped ginger - 1 tsp
  • cashewnuts

curd riceCurd Rice / Thayir sadam: It is a popular and tasty South Indian dish where soft cooked rice is mixed with yogurt and then tempered with spices. I added fruits to it.You can skip that and add carrots, cucumber, mango as well.Do try this and share how it turned out:)

Directions

  • Wash the rice and add them in pressure cooker with 3 cups of water .Pressure cook for 5 whistles in medium heat . Rice should be mushy.
  • Add 1 tbsp of butter to it and mash really well.Transfer to a bowl and allow it to cool completely.

  • To Temper : In a pan,heat some oil and temper it with mustard seeds,urad dal,channa dal,dry red chillies,chopped ginger and cashewnuts. Saute for a min.
  • Pour the tempering over the rice.

  • Add curd, milk, chopped green chillies, chopped coriander leaves, chopped grapes, pomegranate seeds and salt and mix well.
