  • To Marinate Mutton
  • Mutton-500g
  • Ginger garlic paste-1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander Powder - 3 tsp
  • Cumin Powder - 1 tsp
  • Green Chillies - 2
  • Required Salt
    • To make masala
  • Oil - 3 tbsp
  • Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Dry Red Chillies - 2
  • Ginger - 1 tbsp
  • Green Chillies - 3
  • Shallots - 15
  • Pepper Powder - 1 1/2 tbsp
  • Curry Leaves
  • Cuisine: Cooking time: 45 mins Serving: 4 people

    Mutton Chukka Varuval

    Mutton Chukka / Mutton Varuval is a recipe in which mutton is cooked with all the spices and the meat is so tender and juicy that it will melt in your mouth. This mutton roast is the perfect side dish for any rice varieties.

    • Marinate Mutton:In a Large Bowl, Add Ginger Garlic paste,Turmeric Powder,Coriander Powder,Cumin Powder ,Green Chillies and Required Salt to the Cleaned Mutton pieces and marinate it for minimum 2 hrs to Overnight.Overnight Marination makes the meat more flavorful and juicy.

    • In a pressure cooker,add the marinated mutton pieces and 1/2 Cup water and pressure cook them for 4 to 5 whistles in medium heat or until they are cooked well.

    • In a pan,Add oil  and temper it with mustard seeds ,Dry Red Chillies ,Ginger Green Chillies and lots of curry leaves.

    • Add the chopped shallots and saute them until they become translucent.
    • Add the Cooked Mutton along with soup and saute until the water evaporates completely.

    • Add Pepper powder and saute until it coats well with the mutton pieces.

    • Tasty Mutton Chukka is ready to serve.

      This looks delicious, but a few important details are missing.

      So exactly how much salt is “required”?
      How long is ” cooked well”? We are using a pressure cooker. It’s not like we can pop the lid and check.
      At what point is the oil used?
      How long is “saute well”?

      Thanks Michael White for ur valuable feedback.i have added it whatever i missed.
      Salt is according to one’s taste preference,so i cannot say the exact amount.You can add few teaspoons and check the gravy and you can add it more later if needed
