  • Onion-1 large thinly sliced
  • Green chilly-1
  • Ginger garlic paste-1tbsp
  • Turmeric powder-1/2tsp
  • Chilly powder-1tsp
  • Coriander powder-1tbsp
  • Garam masala-2tsp
  • Fresh Ground pepper-2 tbsp to 3tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon/Lime juice
  • Chopped coriander leaves
  • Oil-2tbsp
  • Fennel seeds-3tsp
  • To marinate chicken
  • Chicken -1 lb
  • Turmeric powder-1/2tsp
  • chilly powder-2tsp
  • garam masala-1tsp
  • salt required

Pepper chicken is a very flavorful,spicy dish that can be served as a appetizer or as an accompaniment to rice,chappathi,dosa,idli,appam,etc.The freshly ground pepper which brings the flavor and aroma to this dish..It is a very comforting dish on a winter day.This recipe can be made either as dry or gravy as per one’s own preference

  • Marinate the chicken with salt,turmeric powder,red chilly powder,garam masala powder for 15 minutes.marinate chicken
  • In a pan ,add in fennel seeds,curry leaves and allow fennel seeds  to crackleTemper it
  • Add in onions and green chillies and saute it till it become translucentAdd onions and saute
  • Add in Ginger garlic paste and saute it till raw smell goesgingergarlicpaste
  • Add in spices chilly powder,turmeric powder,coriander powder and garam masala and saute it welladd spices
  • Add in chicken pieces and coat them well in the masalas.Add chicken and saute well in the masalas
  • Cover and cook the chicken.dont need to add water,the chicken itself ooze out lot of water and it will cook with that water.cover and cook
  • Once the chicken get cooked,open the lid and saute it until the water evaporates
  • Add in fresh ground pepper powder and mix it wellFresh ground pepper
  • Squeeze some lemon/lime juice.Lime juice
  • Add in chopped coriander leavescoriander leaves
  • Serve it hot.pepper chicken final
